My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Prostate cancer

Trigger warning: death, assisted dying.


I’d like to take a moment to tell you about the journey of my father-in-law, Brian. He died in July this year after losing his fight with cancer.

He passed peacefully, surrounded by family, after being granted the dignity of voluntary assisted dying (thank you, state of Victoria).

Brian was a great man, and loved by many. His funeral was literally ‘standing room only’, with many of the young men he influenced through his love of basketball coming to pay their respects.



Brian was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer, and left with fewer options than most.

Despite his initial diagnosis, we were able to spend nearly five years with Brian – nearly three years more than the initial prognosis.



While we are thankful to have had the time with him, and for our kids to spend time with their Poppa, Brian was young and we should have had far more time.



My hair will come back, but Brian, and wonderful men like him, can’t.



This year, I ask, please, get your prostate checked/encourage your loved ones to get their prostate check.

It’s a straightforward process, and could save a life.
