My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

Any life lost to suicide is one too many.

We all need to be taught the tools to overcome the hard times. I believe the “talk to a mate” campaign is a great initiative of starting the conversation. Although, I believe we need to go one step further and begin sending the message “talk to a mate and seek professional help”. If you want to get stronger in the gym, would you speak to a friend who has no experience in building strength? For me, the same applies to mental wellbeing and we need more readily available help for everyone.

I will be fundraising for mental health again this year. Challenging myself to row at least 100,000m (100km) on an indoor rowing machine within a 12 hour period. I plan on live streaming it on Youtube. All proceeds will go towards Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, my goal is to raise $5,000.

This is going to be a tough challenge but no tougher than the daily battles people are having with themselves, whether that be suicidal thoughts or just not comfortable with who you or where your life is heading. I welcome anyone to join me by completing your own difficult challenge in “Movemeber”.

During this challenge it will be a constant mental and physical battle to not give up. By completing it I hope to inspire people who are struggling with mental health to keep fighting and not give up because bad times don’t last forever. We are all fighting our own battles and everyday is a chance to better yourself.

The two main things I am trying to achieve through this fundraiser is to continue to increase awareness around this problem for men and women and to help create more funding to allow professional help to be more accessible to everyone.

Once we all are looking after ourselves that is when we can start looking after each other.
