Podcasts We Love

This Easter long weekend, wrap your listening gear around these top picks from the crew at Movember HQ.

1.  Politics: Like I'm a Six-Year-Old
Comedian and former Triple J breakfast presenter Tom Ballard sits down with interesting and passionate people from across the political spectrum each week – from Pauline Hanson and Sam Newman to Adam Bandt and Alain deBotton – to find out what they believe, and why.

2. Sports: Ordineroli Speaking
Respected sports journo Neroli Meadows made her podcast debut earlier this year, and has already rocketed up the charts. Her unique interviewing style captures the human stories (and mental health challenges) behind stars including Glenn Maxwell, Peter Siddle and Adam Treloar. Bonus points for the punny title.

3. Parenting: Dad in Progress
Look, we don’t mean to blow our own trumpet, but if you’re a dad or if you know a dad: Dad in Progress is a must-listen. We teamed up with the brains behind The Betoota Advocate and took a deep-dive into the challenges, life changes and joys of new-dad life. With guest appearances from comedian Aaron Gocs, and “one of the world’s most famous stay-at-home dads" Clarke Gayford (partner of Jacinda Ardern), the podcast aims to help parents navigate everything from relationships and sex, to work, and your mental health.

4. Cycling: Life in the Peloton
Get an insight into the world of lycra with Mitch Docker, a 12th season pro cyclist. The podcast started as a way for Mitch to share his life as a professional bike rider with his friends and family, but soon became a show for anyone interested in learning about the sport of cycling, and the highs and lows in the life of a professional athlete.

5.  AFL: Dyl & Friends
Former Greater Western Sydney player Dylan Buckley is an exciting up-and-comer in the Aussie sports media scene. His podcast, Dyl and Friends, is full of banter with his light-hearted conversational style consistently gleaning unique insights and stories from his guests. For those in NSW and QLD, it’s not all AFL. Big name guests also include Rex Hunt, Andrew Bogut and Alexander Volkanovski. Check out the latest episode, where Dyl chats all things mental health with Movember’s own Dr Zac Seidler.

6. Books: What You Will Learn                                                                    If you’re a bookworm who’s short on time, this one’s for you. Hosts Adam & Adam take the time to extract all the best bits from the best books, so that you can learn key insights at lightning speed. They also speak with some of the world’s top authors, from Gretchen Rubin to MJ DeMarco and the Barefoot Investor.

7. Conversations:  The Joe Rogan Experience                                        Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will likely have heard of The Joe Rogan Experience. Host - American comedian Joe Rogan - has created one of the world’s most popular podcasts with each episode racking up millions of streams. Diverse, in-depth and thought-provoking, guests include international heavyweights such as Elon Musk, Edward Snowdon, Mike Tyson and Neil de Grasse Tyson.
