2: Active listening: This is really important. Listen to what they have to say, don’t judge, don’t attempt to argue someone out of suicide. Rather, let the person know you care, that he or she is not alone, that suicidal feelings are temporary and that depression can be treated. Avoid the temptation to say, "You have so much to live for," or "Your suicide will hurt your family

1: Start a conversation. If you are worried that a mate is thinking about taking their own life, let them know that you’re concerned and ask if they’re ok. Don’t be afraid to ask the question – ‘you don’t seem yourself and I’m worried about you. Are you thinking of taking your own life?

Fact: More than 3000 Australians die by suicide each year with males making up 75%. The number of men who die by suicide in Australia every year is nearly double the national road toll
