Our Motivation

G'day Legends! This year, Bounce Geelong are getting their Mo' on and supporting the incredible organisation that is Movember!

This year, all of us will be supporting Movember by either growing the most lucious of moustaches, getting our 'Move-mber' on by participating in physical activity and by donating to this awesome organisation.

At BOUNCE, part of our vision is to inspire human connection, and we find this to be incredibly important to the meaning behind Movember. After coming out of a time of isolation, it is so important to reconnect with the people you love. Most people suffer in silence, and no one should have to.

These last few years were hard for everyone, the limited human connection, the loss of relationships, the feelings of being trapped and having no idea of the future ahead. So many people felt this, and it was felt hard across the community. In 2021, Men were 3-4 times more likely to take their own lives as compared to women, and 18.2 in every 100,000 men took their own lives. These statistics represent the harsh reality that men face every day in this country, and the toll on the families impacted by men's health issues.

Movember also supports the battle against testicular and prostate cancer. Across the country, over 240,000 men are affected by prostate cancer, and testicular cancer is the most prevalent cancer amongst young Australian men. Movember funds over 1,250 men's health projects worldwide, this enormous task requires the help of the generous donors who support Movember each year!
