Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

I reckon this is the most significant change in my lifetime (70+ yrs) in terms of recognising that men are people who, from childhood, live the full gamut of human experience & have the right to express & acknowledge their reaction to that without shame or fear. I am proud to have adult sons who can articulate what they are feeling & not feel ashamed to be open about their emotions. Sadly the past norm of a man as an impenetrable rock, able to withstand all, burying emotion, still persists. Look at the suicide rate of farmers, for example. The provision of appropriate psychological support for men in need & of increased education to all regarding mental health is paramount. Still too many fail to recognise that the most painful illnesses are not only physical. I have hope for the future through the wonderful example of my sons as fathers, who, despite what they have had to cope with, having been raised by a father or stepfather with traditionally stoic concepts of "what it is to be a man",are guiding their sons to be emotionally mature people.
