My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health

Movember focuses on three important men’s health issues: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women and from largely preventable reasons. Movember is on a mission to change this. They raise much-needed funds and awareness to stop us, our brothers, fathers, sons, partners, and friends from dying too young.

Movember is helping to transform how men think about their health – and how to act on it. Using funds raised by Mo Bros, they collaborate with the world’s sharpest minds and best researchers to create effective treatments, innovative support solutions, and easily accessible resources for men.

2018
***We reached our goal of $500!!! ... If we reach $1000 by the end of the month I'll shave my head!***

The Movember Foundation is the leading charity changing the face of men's health, and this Movember I'm joining them. Together we can make a difference for men's health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Prostate cancer in particular is something that touches close to home. My grandfather had prostate cancer, and although he was lucky to have survived it, there are many other men who aren't as fortunate.

After my skiing accident this year, which resulted in detection of an early stage melanoma on my foot (whilst I was in hospital in Austria); I feel so blessed and grateful, and like I've been given another chance. I feel like I've been given a chance to do more and be more selfless in life.

I've been talking about doing Movember for the past few years, but I think that's enough talking. It's time to do something, and raise money for an incredible cause.

Globally, more than 1.4M men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. The Movember Foundation is working to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, and I want to help them get there.

"Help me stop men dying too young."

Previous year's activities

I walked 68.05 km

Total distance covered of 146km this month. On average that works out to about 5km every day (I didn't always have my phone on me to track steps/distance too).
I did want to do 100km purely from dedicated walking/runs and I did achieve over 70km this way, but unfortunately did fall a little short. Nonetheless, this has been a very active month for me and I'm proud of what I accomplished. I also feel very proud & thankful for my generous friends and their generous donations who helped me reach my extended goal of $1000!! To those friends and everyone else who has been supporting me. Thank you.

2km at the gym for warmup today :)

312 Week(s) Ago
I walked 13.2 km

So this was my day today. 16,000 steps...
If I counted everyday this month in this way id easily do 300km this month!
I'm counting today's walking as I'm a little behind schedule and for the fact that all my other steps/kilometers are hard earned. I've been doing all of my kms on top of this type of walking that I would do normally!

Day 18. Super busy day running around at work and then tutoring tonight. Nice way to finish off the day and relax before a late dinner.
(When I say busy day at work I mean it - clocked up over 15,000 steps today...)
