Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Prostate cancer
Testicular cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

For the month of November, I’m committing to an hour of exercise every day with a different member of my community — using that time to check in, talk, and share the load. It’s about movement, connection, and conversation.

This idea came from personal experience. I’ve lost multiple people in my life to suicide — including my mum when I was seven, and my best mate Tristan in 2018.

Tristan and I were housemates and close friends back in Adelaide. After I moved interstate to chase work after uni, we drifted a little. One night, not long after, we were out celebrating my graduation — laughing, telling stories, and catching up late into the morning. I didn’t know he was struggling. When I said goodbye the next day, he was crying. I gave him a hug and told him I’d call. That was the last time I saw him.

Every hour, around 60 men around the world die by suicide. That number represents sons, brothers, fathers, mates — people like Tristan — and it’s one of the reasons that Movember exists.

And that wraps up my fundraiser for Movember. What a busy but fulfilling month it has been to spread awareness about the challenges facing men’s health, serve my community by encouraging action and raising money for important causes for Movember. Thanks to everyone who has donated, made time to speak or sent messages of endorsement. I appreciate each and every one of you.

There’s still time if you’re feeling generous to support my fundraiser, no matter how big or small it will go a long way to changing the face of men’s health: https://movember.com/m/13958559?mc=75

MO30: Finishing off my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 different blokes in my community with an early morning walk and talk with Nathan. Nathan is a dedicated teacher, the president of my football team, on the board for one of Australia’s largest clubs in South Melbourne FC and on the board for the Power Chair Football Association. I was really keen to talk to Nathan because I was curious how someone as busy as him makes time for his health and wellbeing, which he was humble enough to admit he doesn’t, but for a number of reasons he is working to make it a priority. To be a better partner, to be more effective in his community involvement and for a longer period he said he admitted he will need to fill his own cup first before further pouring from it. Someone I definitely look up to!

MO29: Got a walk and talk in this afternoon with my football team mate, and fellow Rangers committee member, Matt, as part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 blokes in my community. Matt is doing his own great work in the young men’s health space, working with organisations to create programs for young men to complete to ensure they have the basic life skills (e.g. managing your finances when you start your first job) to ensure better choices are made to keep young men out of trouble. Something that he’s channeled his own energy of loss into. Inspiring stuff!

As someone who grew up living with a large family under the same roof in India, Moh talked about how important it was for him to find and stay connected with his close friends in Melbourne, as well as eating well and keeping active for his general wellbeing,

MO27: I got in my first ever yoga session with one of my colleagues and new friend, Joe, as part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 different blokes in our community. Both working for an organisation trying to make a difference in men’s health, we had the opportunity to open up that despite coming from a place that champions men’s health and breaking the stigmas around getting support than we still had our times when reaching for help was difficult, but certainly not regretted. Much love my uso.

MO26: Got in a walk and talk with an old colleague turned mate, Gareth, as part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 different blokes in my community. Besides our usual faff, we got to talk about the limited opportunities available for men who are working through certain challenges that can cause feelings of isolation, especially those that live in remote locations or in different time zones to their loved ones. Something that Movember is looking to address through Men in mind.

MO26: Managed to get in a walk and talk with Paulie, one the best humans and a gun engineer as part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 blokes in my community for November. Paulie is as selfless as they come, not only working for a for purpose organisation in Movember but also active in his community on the board of a life saving organisation. The first to help others that acknowledged sometimes he needs a reminder to look after himself, so that he can continue to bring all the value he does to his communities.

MO25: Activity 25 for the month of November, I got in a run with my new work mate Sam. A ‘sound lad’ to use his vernacular, we got to talk about the ebs and flows of mental health and our own stories with it. With age we’ve learned that the waves will come and go, but the strategies in place will keep us steady.

MO25: Got in a walk in talk with a 20 year MoBro this morning as part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 different blokes in my community for November. Hanging up the boots at the end of year, we talked about life after jumping from campaign to campaign. Probably the biggest shoes to fill at the moustache factory in my (and many others) opinion, it was great to check in and talk about life after the mo and having a window to put his personal wellbeing in and tick off a bunch of things of his life to do list that’s taken a back seat in recent years. We love you mate and we will all be keeping in touch!

MO24: As part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 blokes in November, I went for a kick about in the evening with one of the guys from my football club, Ed, who runs all the junior football for one of the fastest growing clubs in the west of Melbourne, while juggling a full time job. Curious how this guy makes time to look after himself, he put it all down to living effectively, being selective about where he invests his time and having a great support system in the communities he’s surrounded himself with.

MO24: I managed to get in a walk and talk in at lunch with my mate Simmo for my 30 activities with 30 men in my community in November (promise we didn’t just talk about Arsenal!). Both navigating lots of change in our lives, the conversation led to ensuring that whatever change came that staying connected to our communities in healthy ways remained a priority to manage stress and keep on top of our general mental and physical wellbeing.

MO23: Went to the driving range with my mate, Jason, as part of my 30 day challenge of exercising with 30 different blokes throughout the month of November. Jason is up there with the most dedicated MoBros I have ever met and full to the brim with lots of wisdom about men’s health, particularly in the mental health space. Variety is the spice of life (if that’s how that saying goes?!), so in order to ensure his cup stays filled he is working on mastering the art of boundary setting, so that he can make time to do the things he loves intentionally, with the people he loves, to keep him in a healthy headspace. What a guy.

I hope to be like Ziggy when I become a dad!

Having both in recent years dealt with close loss, we talked a lot about the importance of community and having healthy outlets when processing those events. I’m pleased to hear he’s in a great place with such healthy support systems in position.

After sharing the load of loss, it really did feel like some weight had been lifted and our friendship furthered. Love you dude.
