I'm back for my 6th year. This year I won't be doing my usual im-MO-tations, don't worry there'll still be some costumes - but this year I'll have to carry them 500+ kilometres, for 40 days....

Why you ask? ... well this year my mate Steph & I are hiking the Backbone of Tasmania.

I believe there's this outdated idea that men have to be the backbone of the family & that they can't show their struggles or ask for help because that's not being strong.
However, like a physical spine, the metaphorical backbone can't do it alone, the spine is supported by muscles, it needs rest, & in times of strain or injury it needs extra care - if it's not looked after the spine cannot stay strong.
Self care, admitting struggles, seeking help & expressing emotions isn't weakness, it build strength. To put it bluntly; there's no strength in succumbing to an illness that could have been prevented, there's no strength in being dead.

Swallow your pride & face your fears by asking for help, admitting your struggles & going and getting that check up. This is why every Movember I take the piss out myself; why I've stood in front of 40 grown men dressed as Joe Dirte & explained how the loss of one person impacts an entire community & how one conversation or one right question can prevent that loss.

Well this year Steph & I are 'breaking the back', we're walking 500+ km in 40 days through the Tasmanian Wilderness. It's no easy feat, it will be a huge test of emotional & physical strength. There will be moments of struggle, thoughts of defeat & equal quantities of preparation, planning & unknown. To get through this we will need your support, and the best way you can show it is donate to the Movember cause.

Hi Lauren,

I'm Hannah, I'm on the team here at Movember HQ, thought I’d drop by to say a big hairy thanks for flying the flag for men’s health again this year. This might be one of the best Mo spaces that I've seen - I absolutely lost it at the Hulk Hogan facials!

Thank you for openly sharing your motivation, I think it is so so important for women to support the guys in our lives. You're so close to your goal and the Mo content is spectacular - keep it up legend. Every dollar helps tackle mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer, so thank you again!

1. running in +26deg heat.
2. "oh this Riverside trail will be pleasant".... so many spiderwebs were eaten.
3. "oh there'll be a path to shortcut through the park area"... nope, not a park... a conservation area.
