My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

It was actually quite a shock....
....when just a couple of years ago someone close in my family - a very young fella - started to talk about experiencing poor mental health.
Previously - of course - I would have agreed that mental health 'could be a problem for men', and that we should all contribute to making that situation better. But I had not really been confronted with a direct experience of it first hand by anyone really close to me!
Self realisation that you are suffering is a key step. Willingness to seek help is paramount - and good quality help IS 'out there'. Very happily, the young bloke in question did both, and the professional help he received allowed him to regain the health that many of us take for granted.
Poor mental health is not necessarily a permanent condition!

Nevertheless Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

It’s a bit of an effort isn’t it? Worth it though for these causes! Give yourself a Pat on the back!

A late, late donation gratefully received has come from Michael Clarkson (The December Movemberist)

Michael is the Design Communication Practice Leader
At LatStudios. Many of you will have previously known LatStudios as Lat27.

Michael is a Landscape Architect and Design Visualising Renaissance man of savant qualities.

A pleasure to have received his donation. Thank-you very much, Michael!

One last Night Owl who likes to cap a month of fundraising off, with a sneaky last minute donation is Ruth Davies.
Ruth co-managed the U17 Girls AFL Team for Wilston-Grange Club this past season with considerable flair and winning style. “Go Gorillas!” Is possibly her favourite saying.

Thanks very much for the generous donation, Ruth! Very much appreciate your support.

Also sharing a recent donation which is my chunkiest one by far.

Many of you probably already know Paul Curran and his team at PUSH. (Arch practice).

PUSH have done just that and have shoved a very healthy donation into our fundraising coffers.

If you know someone over there, and have the chance, make sure to say ‘Thanks’ to them for their great donation!

Recent donor update: we have received a very fine donation from Helen Morgan, who gave a couple of good reasons for her contribution, writing....
“.... AND I know LOTS of people with Mental Health Issues!”

Well that would be most of our mutual friends, Helen.

I met Helen at a time when she and her partners ran a couple of very progressive Brisbane Nightclubs / Venues.
Those were some VERY EFFECTIVE hangouts I can assure you.
These days she is a Senior Business Strategist and Marketing Consultant - currently at Gibsons Consulting PL - and a very canny operator too!

Thanks very, very much for your contribution, Helen!

Movember Donation Update - Just received a very generous donation from the baby of our family Lilu - who these days mainly does the kind of thing shown in image below.

She has used some of the valuable money she does earn when not just ‘playing around’ to support Movember.

Thanks very, very much Lilu

I’d just like to throw a spotlight on my latest donor -
Nick Herron from Herron Coorey Building Contractors.

I just sent out a ‘last minute’ Movember appeal via email. Nick must have sat on it for all of 30seconds before hitting the ‘Donate’ button.

This is not the first time Nick has come through with the goods at short notice. It has often been in the form of advice / input more valuable than the cash.

If you are in the position to recommend or engage a high quality, middleweight QLD Builder that works well with the architectural team, please consider making an enquiry with Herron Coorey Building Contractors.

I’m just going to highlight a recent donation from my Son Ming - in this photo AKA Aang, The Last Airbender.

Clearly able to fully commit to fancy dress parties (the head shave was specially done) He has also demonstrated his commitment to the serious issue of Men’s Health by dropping a serious donation our way.

This is not to be underestimated for a guy who is a 19yo Arts Student holding down modestly paid casual work to earn his way!

Thank-you very much Ming!

Weng's DONATOR OF THE DAY!
Long-time friend Scott Walton, who has totally shut me down and put me in my place just now by adding this image of his current visage to his earlier donation....
That would be about three decades work for me, but Scott advises he absent-mindedly 'just grew this one 'absent-mindedly' as he was making a quick Bulgogi Bibimbab for for his wife and kids dinner last night.
Well done Scont!

If you are interested to see what Scott does when he is not preening his mustache, head over to his website at Fifty Fifty Films....http://www.fiftyfifty.tv/

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
