Fundraising for cause areas including:
Testicular cancer

2025 was supposed to be our fresh start. My wife and I moved interstate from Canberra to Adelaide. I founded CSP IT. We found out we were expecting our first child.

Then came my cancer diagnosis.

All within a matter of months.

While waiting in the hospital, I picked up Boethius's "The Consolation of Philosophy", a book that remained on the bestseller list for no less than a thousand years. Written from a prison cell while awaiting execution, Boethius describes Fortune's wheel: always turning, lifting us up and casting us down with seemingly arbitrary cruelty.

Boethius argues that the wheel's very instability contains much wisdom and that Fortune's favour is most dangerous when one mistakes temporary success for permanent security, and how adversity can reveal what truly matters. I understood that the same wheel that bestowed a new business, a growing family, and a cancer diagnosis, was simply turning as it does. The question wasn't why me? But, how to respond?

That same year, I participated in Movember and growing that moustache became my small act of defiance against Fortune's downward turn. This year marks five years cancer-free and it's time, much to my wife's horror, to grow the Mo once again!

We now have two beautiful children. Business is thriving. The wheel has turned again. However, here's what Boethius taught me: Don't celebrate just because Fortune is smiling. Celebrate the lesson that stability exists beyond the wheel, in the people we love, the meaning we create, and the choice to show up for others when Lady Fortuna turns against them.

If you're facing your own battle, health, business, or life, we never really know the full consequences of any event. What can appear as a disaster may be carrying a hidden gift, deepening our appreciation of impermanence and expanding our compassion for others.
