Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

Hey guys

My team here at Rio Tinto are joining the fight against Mental Health and taking part in Movember to raise more awareness and hopefully some money! In our working lifestyle as fly in / fly out workers it can be quite isolated which can take a rapid toll on your Mental Health. Trying to keep the boat afloat while being away from family or simply having to deal with problems while thousands of kilometres away is an all to common theme in my line of work where there too commonly have been instances of people giving into stresses of life and sadly the ultimate fight which is life. This shouldn't and is by no means gender specific but as a male it needs to be reiterated that it is OK to say "I'm not OK". It's not a sign of weakness,  it's a sign of strength that you can stand up against the stigma that males should deal with this stuff alone, by themselves and behind closed doors. Mental health can lead to more serious situations and the loss of life which can have severe adverse affects on friends, loved ones and extended networks which I've sadly had to see too many times. As a friend and brother I'm here to always lend an ear! Us guys should be able to have a few froffs, put it on the table, tell our mates that we aren't doing that well and need some support! So reach out to your mates if they look like they're struggling or not being themselves, you may be the difference.

On a lighter note!
Watch this space and yours truly grow a terrible moustache!

Donations big or small welcomed with open arms, if the times are tough then I'll offer you a good laugh at my expense instead!

JB

It’s a fair effort with your heritage…but I think mine is better. (Ah…the joys of old age)
