My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young. On top of all that during the pandemic lockdowns I've become a fat, slothful bastard. My latest blood test said my vitamin D was low (because I've not been getting outside enough). Crikey! The Great North Walk passes through the area I live in and I've always wanted to take Shank's Pony and see what it's all about.

I fended off numerous of the little buggers clambering up my boots but the “this is too much” moment was when I had one on each hand at the same time. The things you do for Movember!

Cedar Brush Creek trackhead to The Basin Campground leg - rainy morning after a rainy night and the track winds through dense bush. Characterised by The Attack Of the Bloodthirsty Leeches!!!!

Not letting my sore feet get in the way, on Sunday the 7th I'm back at the Cedar Brush Creek track marker heading in the other direction. This time into the very hilly leg that runs 9km toward the Basin Campground, in the Watagan Forest, which is a subsection of the 16km walk listed on the trackhead sign.

8km of this leg down, 3 to go. My feet hurt!

The Cedar Brush Creek to Yarramalong Valley leg winds through the peaceful farms and groves of the Yarramalong Valley.
