Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Movember 2024 Means to me its time to try something different. Different from the previous 8 years of raising funds and raising awareness.

Personally I live with and manage Depression and Anxiety, and I have done so since 2008.

I was lucky and through my employers EAP program, I connected with a talented and hard working counsellor. I was so confident in his ability to help me, that I followed him through 3 practice moves over the years until he established his own practice.

My #1 piece of advice: Find a counsellor that you are 100% comfortable with to discuss anything and everything with.

Share Dad's story, sense humor, advice, rants etc.

Waiting patiently used to be a skill.
These days I don't do ques.
I don't wait longer than 2mins on hold.
And I don't suffer fools for a second.
I DO put time into maintaining my friends network.
I call.
I message.
I text.
And I LISTEN.

Good on you Graham, for both your support of a brilliant cause and your courage to speak openly about it. I struggle with PTSD and Depression as well. The more we talk about it openly and remove the stigma, the better!

Welcome to Wednesday 6th Movember!
Life has thrown me a speed bump in the form a strange angry looking rash that covers 90% of both calves left and right. I think It's related to working on my feet 100% of my shift. (opposite to previous roles). I will let my gp make that call and prescribe accordingly.
When you are managing multiple mental health conditions, a small health concern can make you feel overwhelmed. It never used - I would just march on until something healed or required a visit to the doctor. When I think about tasks on my weekly TO DO list round home - paint the gutters & facias to complete the house exterior paint job, yard mow, w/snip/ blow, put time & effort into MOvemember, research pre-cooked meals delivered options online, etc. etc. it is easy to feel over whelmed when a speed bump comes along.
It's important to step back, take a moment, B R E A T H.

9-5 shift today. Reminds me of my days as a public servant in the fed gov ... NOT.
Feeling grateful and blessed to have a casual job working in a good team.
A big thank you to my supporters so far who have once again stepped up and donated and helped to Change the Face of Mens Health! ❤

MOVEMBER 2024.
Last year I devoted my fund raising efforts to my dear old Dad.
THIS year I want to create something just as permanent as the love I have for my ol' man, and a lot more visible!
SO WATCH THIS SPACE!!

MY OLD MAN WAS A BUSINESS MANAGER - BELIEVE OR NOT!
Yep it's true. Back in the 80's Westpac approached the old man to clean out all the "dead wood" in the smaller branches in North Queensland. It would have meant leaving the pub life, lots of regular re-locating and long hours. Dad turned the offer down. I wonder how things would have turned out had he accepted the offer.
In the early 80's Dad was appointed as the RLCM club manager to a small non-profit sporting club. The first 18months was an an up-hill battle. Trading the little club OUT of debt. Re-Furbishing the inside of the club. Putting a stop to shady, under-the-table deals with Tradesmen. Reducing business operating expenses and moving the club into a positive cash flow position. Exactly what he did in all his previous business manager roles. Eventually he arrived in a position where the club could afford to put on free Members only events once a month such as seafood buffets, chartered fishing trips, BBQ's etc.
Pictured below is the old man in the freshly re-furbished bar. Note the marble walls and stainless steel fittings and counter tops. LUV YA WORK DAD!

I walked 5 km00:50:00

I exercised for the first time in a while Tuesday19th November. It was my attempt to deal with a dull headache (that didn't leave me until later that night) as a side effect of starting my journey to get off my anti - depression medication. My gp has my back and has always supported me. So it's only a small step, but it's a step in the right direction. From Manly to Wynnum and back again via the esplanade. A beautiful walk! It's our FAV Sunday morning walk and a great place for a picnic with a view.

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
