My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

14 years ago, I became a Mo Bro and it was just purely to grow (at the time) a pretty average moustache. Now, its pretty bloody epic!! I was never actively involved in fundraising and raising awareness for what Movember stands for but over the years as I grew more as a human being, my attitude towards helping people and raising awareness changed.

In 2019 I created a campaign called run30formovember. I ran 465 kms in 30 days, so on day 1 I ran 1km. Day 2 I ran 2kms, day 3 it was 3, day 4 it was 4 and so on until day 30. Not only was it physically tough but also mentally.

For Movember this year, I will be riding my bike from Cairns to Brisbane and back to Cairns in 30 days. This really is going to push myself to my limits as you can probably understand. I have raced in Triathlons and running events for the past 10/11 years both locally and internationally, but this will be on a totally different level. Those outside of Queensland, Australia, it's roughly 3500 kms!! give or take the odd km or two.

The route will be taking me down the coast, riding for 4 days and then resting for one day. This will continue until I reach Brisbane with plans on finishing at the Gabba before I head back home again. I will be reaching out to other MoBro's and MoSista's in the area, to raise awareness for what I am doing. This will also be through social media including radio & local newspapers. While I want to raise as much money as I can during the 30 days, this challenge is also something that I want to do for myself. To not only push myself physically but also mentally.

2022 has opened how I best represent myself and how comfortable I am in my own skin. Whether that’s growing my hair back or colouring my Mo. What I do know is that Movember is not just about me. It’s about the lives of all the men out there, young or old. It’s about raising awareness and doing something about it. It’s about making a difference and helping anybody that needs it and its about making a difference in my own life.

As a father of two adult sons, I want them to be able to reach out and express their feelings, express their emotions and not being afraid to stand up for what they believe in.

There is one thing that I have learnt over the last few months, no matter who you are or what you do, just be yourself. If you want to change yourself and become a better person for it, then do it. Do not let negativity influence your decision to make something of yourself, no matter what you do.
