My motivation

This year my family has been acutely affected by mental health disorders and cancer. Like anyone else would for their family, I’ve been ‘in the trenches’ and supporting where I can, but at times it has felt somewhat helpless endeavour.

Fundraising has been in my mind lately, an attempt to make some ‘good’ out of a bad situation. When searching for a charity, Movember focuses on the two areas my family have been most impacted by, specifically prostate cancer and mental health.

We’re still a couple of months away from November, but there's no reason why I can’t support this charity now. Whilst I won’t be growing a moustache, I will run the 30km Coastal Classic on September 7, and 42km at the Beach to Brother Port Macquarie marathon on September 22.

Preceding the main event with the marathon is this mini, 3-week fundraising effort to support the areas I care most about.
