Day 15 of December 2024 , as a Team we have raised $ 81,588 till date which is 135.98% of our target of $60,000 and covered 1104 km of our commitment of 500 kms which is 2.208 times our target as the MOV~ing Mackay Cricket Club in 2024 (with 12 dedicated Mo Bros and 1 dedicated Mo Sista)and an incredible $ 967,927.16 since 2011 as a Team from Mackay in regional Queensland. As the Founding Member of the Movember Cricket Association Challenge we have raised 35.93% of the funds raised by 345 members in 74 teams in 2024 ($81,588/$227,050 ) till date compared to $93,565.70/196,245 (47.68%) in the 2023 campaign with 305 members in 76 Teams and $81,588/$126,718 raised by the MAKE YOUR MOVE CHALLENGE where we raised 69.90% of the funds raised in 2024 an topped the km”s walked by any participating Team in 2024- https://moteam.co/mov-ing-mackay-cricket-club

On November 19, International Men’s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s well-being. Our theme for 2024 is “ZERO MALE SUICIDE”. Together we can stop male suicide.

Suicidal behaviours are defined as thinking about or planning taking one’s own life (suicidal ideation) or attempting suicide.

Understanding the prevalence of suicidal behaviours in Australia is important as this may help to reduce stigma, increase help-seeking behaviour and improve suicide prevention activities.

Many people experience thoughts of suicide:

In 2023, there were 3,214 deaths by suicide. The age-standardised suicide rate was 11.8 per 100,000.

Three-quarters of people who died by suicide were male.

Men had a higher age-standardised suicide rate (18.0 per 100,000) than women (5.8 per 100,000).

Males aged 55-59 years had the highest age-specific suicide rate. Males aged 45-49 years accounted for the largest proportion of deaths due to suicide (10%).

Females aged 50-54 years had the highest age-specific suicide rate (10.0 deaths per 100,000). They accounted for the largest proportion of female suicide deaths (11%).

It is Monday the 14th of October 2024, and with the incredible support of the caring communities of Mackay and Whitsundays I have individually been able to raise $ 33,890 with the contributions of 295 generous donors to be Australia’s Highest Individual Fund Raiser for Movember till date again in 2024 and 2nd worldwide. In all the caring communities of Mackay and Whitsundays have helped me raise an amazing $ 678,117 since 2008 for Movember Foundation and I am proud to be their Movember Community Ambassador and Hall of Fame Member. As of today -12th of September 2024, the 2nd Thursday in September 2024 and ‘ R U OK’ Day, I have individually been able to raise $ 23,915 with the contributions of 216 generous donors to be Australia’s Highest Individual Fund Raiser for Movember till date again in 2024 and 3rd worldwide. John Carswell, a 13 year MO Bro from Canada who ended 2023 as the Highest Individual Fund Raiser worldwide raising $ 303,880 but has raised $ 1,067,929 since 2010 to be the 2nd Highest Individual Fund Raiser for Movember till date

Dr Sanjeev Bandi from little known Mackay in North Queensland in Australia , a 16 year Mo Bro who ended 2023 as the Highest Individual Fund Raiser in Australia having raised $ 70,727 and 5th worldwide but has raised $ 643,199 since 2008 to be the 3rd Highest Individual Fund Raiser for Movember till date

Congratulations to the Australian Men’s Cricket Team, worthy winners against hosts India in the ICC World Cup final last night by six wickets.

Globally, we lose one man to suicide every 60 seconds.

We have raised an amazing $ 51,190 for MOVEMBER already on the 9th of November 2023 and an incredible $ 834,374.16 since 2011 as a Team from Mackay in regional Queensland and the Founding Member of the Movember Cricket Association Challenge in which we have been the Highest Fund Raising Team each year since inception in 2011

My sincere thanks to the 437 generous donors to my 2022 MOVEMBER campaign who have helped me change the face of Men’s Health in this country and worldwide once again in 2022.

The unrelenting support of the communities of Mackay, Gladstone and Whitsundays has helped me raise $ 68,603 in the 2022 campaign and an incredible $ 572,472 since 2008.

Congratulations to the Australian Men’s Cricket Team on winning the First Test against South Africa in 2 days at the Gabba today by 6 wickets. I am sorry that patrons willing to go blue for the day to raise the profile of Men’s Health, Mental Illness and Suicide Prevention on Day 3 of the test at the Gabba did not get the chance this year. It would have gone a long way to support the cause of raising awareness of Men’s Health within the community.
