We work closely with our global men's health partners to ensure collaboration, transparency and accountability for every project we fund. We monitor this through report cards which detail what we seek to achieve, key measures and the impact.
Prostate Cancer
"Together with the brightest minds in research, we aim to achieve significant breakthroughs in the hope of beating prostate cancer. Our disruptive funding approach identifies revolutionary ways to accelerate health outcomes by creating strong, global collaborative teams." Dr. Colleen Nelson, Global Scientific Chair.
Men's Health
"One Mo can help change the face of men’s health through the powerful conversations created globally during Movember. Men have the chance to confidently discuss men’s health with people around them, resulting in men taking action early, helping change and save lives." Paul Villanti, Executive Director, Programs
Mental health and suicide prevention
“The number of men taking their own lives around the world is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Movember is working to ensure all men and boys look after their mental health and are comfortable to seek help when they’re struggling.”
Brendan Maher, Global Director, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.
Testicular Cancer
“Despite being the 2nd most common cancer in young men, testicular cancer is often a forgotten cancer due to early detection and treatment. Our projects look at underinvested areas such as improving access to healthcare services and treatment options for relapse” Paul Villanti, Executive Director, Programs.

About the project

There were two Movember funded projects within this program, which both operated from 2009 to December 2013.

Older Person's Awareness Campaign: A multimedia campaign that was implemented from late 2011 to early 2013 through television, radio, newspapers, convenience advertising and the dissemination of printed collateral at Seniors Week events. The program encouraged the audience to contact beyondblue for further information.

The national awareness campaign coinciding with Seniors Week 2012 delivered: over 37,000 resources nationally at various events; 12 newspaper articles about the campaign; 9 print advertisements were developed and placed within seniors' newspapers, seniors festival programs and other outlets; 3 community service announcements were produced for television and aired in regional stations nationally; 4 community service announcements (radio) were produced for other languages (Cantonese, Greek, Italian and Vietnamese).

Beyond Maturity Blues: Was a volunteer peer educator project implemented by the Council On The Ageing (COTA) in each state and territory. The free education session was aimed at increasing awareness of anxiety and depression and to empower older Australians to discuss anxiety and depression with their health professional.

From 2007 to December 2013, there were 5060 sessions delivered to approximately 101,000 people. The sessions were delivered by volunteer Peer Educators engaged by the Council On The Ageing. Although the number of Peer Educators varied over time, there were approximately 120 individuals nationally. Most volunteer Peer Educators are located in metropolitan centres and large regional centres, which limited the reach of the program.
