AFL superstar, father of two, and Movember Ambassador, Bobby Hill was diagnosed and treated for testicular cancer at 21 years old. His comeback story both on and off the pitch rivals that of any great sports film.
When Bobby first noticed a lump in one of his testicles, he knew he had to see a doctor straight away. “That was the first thing that went through my head, am I going to see my son grow up,” Bobby remembers once the doctor told him he had cancer. Luckily for him and his family, he listened to the signs and was able to receive successful treatment before his cancer became a more serious issue.
Bobby missed one season of footy, but his long-awaited comeback to the AFL was worth it. His Collingwood team won the Premiership and Bobby put in the performance of his life in the Grand Final, winning the Norm Smith Medal as the best player on ground.
Today, Bobby is thankful to be back playing the sport he loves and enjoying the time he has with his two young children and partner, Georgia. He listened to his body and got checked before it was too late, a message Bobby wants to send to all young men.
