MAYEIGHT!! The Date To Catch Up With A Mate
2 MIN READ

For a lot of Aussie men, life gets busy and we lose touch with our mates. Hanging out with your mates is one of the best things in life, but it’s easy for other stuff to get in the way: work, family, responsibilities.

It’s time to put an end to making plans without actually following through. The need to hang out is real – catching up with your mates is good for your mental health. So make time on MAYEIGHT!! The date to catch up with a mate.

Grab lunch, play that game of golf, or just have a yarn. Whatever you’ve got going on in your life, make some time to catch up with a mate on May 8.

How to be a good mate.

  1. Send your mate a text message or give them a call.
  2. Lock in a time to meet. ‘Mate, let’s catch up soon’ ain’t good enough. It could also be a recurring catch up.
  3. Do something. It could be an activity you both enjoy doing, or something new. Guys often talk more openly when they’re doing stuff together, shoulder-to-shoulder.
  4. If you or your mate want to talk about something difficult, be there and listen.
  5. Share what’s happening in your life. It’s amazing how much better and closer we feel when we talk about the real stuff.
