Our Motivation

Hospitality is an industry that we are geared to always be serving and giving to others, but it often takes its toll as we are great at looking after others however not necessarily great at looking after ourselves. As an industry we face unique demands and stressors due to the nature of the work we do. We are also often exposed to social and behavioural practices that end up taking their toll on our bodies and minds including late nights, long hours, erratic sleeping patterns, poor nutrition and in some cases excessive drinking, partying and/or substance abuse.

Being in such a close nit industry and due to the anti-social hours that we work there is often very little separation from work life and personal life. Our work friends become our actual friends, and, in our downtime, we often seek out environments/ activities that reflect our work making it difficult to distinguish work-life boundaries.
These are not necessarily a bad thing in moderation however, over time this can wear us down and have an impact on our health and well-being.

We are taking this month to reflect on the impacts that our industry can have on our PHYSICAL, MENTAL and SOCIAL WELL-BEING and build awareness around this topic.

We’re raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. We need your help. Please donate to support men’s health or join us as a Hospo Bro or Sista!
