Our Motivation

Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic (WS+EMC) participates in Movember because the movement aligns with the clinic’s values of promoting health and well-being. Movember raises awareness and funds for critical men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health challenges, including suicide prevention. These causes resonate with WS+EMC, as the clinic is committed to holistic health care, focusing on preventing and managing conditions through early intervention, education, and rehabilitation.

Many of the clinic’s patients are men, particularly athletes or individuals in physically demanding roles, who are statistically less likely to seek medical help for health issues. Movember provides an opportunity to encourage men to prioritize their health and address concerns that often go unspoken. By actively engaging in the Movember campaign, WS+EMC promotes the importance of mental and physical health awareness in its community and within the broader sports industry.

Furthermore, Movember offers a chance for the WS+EMC team to unite for a cause, participating in fun and community-building activities, such as growing mustaches or organising fitness challenges. These activities reinforce the clinic’s focus on team spirit and camaraderie, values that are central to their professional culture and client relationships.

Through Movember, WS+EMC emphasises its commitment to community health, recognising that sports medicine is not just about treating injuries but also about fostering overall well-being, preventive care, and creating a supportive environment for men’s health.
