My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

In 2018 I raised over $5000 for Movember as part of an international team representing Movember at the NYC Marathon. What a great experience.
However late in 2018 and early 2019 I came crashing down hard. I was officially diagnosed with Major Depression and Social Anxiety Disorder. I retreated into the safety of my house, and retreated from my friends. So I was placed on medication to assist me get back on track. Rather than take the hits or dodge them, they knocked me down and it took me some time to start to get back up. I've started the process of standing again, but it's a timely factor.

2020-2022 brought its own challenges. Floods, Bushfires, COVID-19, being away from my family Mon-Fri... It has been tough, but I feel like I was a lot more resilient this time around.

This year I'm starting early and doing things a little different.
If I can reach the target of $200 pre-Movember I will shave off my beard that I have been growing for 12 months. Then during Movember due to my injury and being unable to run I will aim to ride 300km over the month, where I would ideally like to double that $200 to a total of $400 raised for Movember.

So please any support you can provide to Movember to help them continue to raise the awareness of mental health and suicide prevention would be greatly appreciated.
