I'm raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. They need our help. The negative stigma around men’s health especially mentally is way too prominent within society so we need to do what we can to change that. Raising awareness is the first step and by putting myself into an uncomfortable situation for others, I feel the reward outweighs my personal discomfort. As someone who has suffered from severe anxiety and depression, as well as being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, I feel as though men need more help. I have gone through things in the past that broke me completely. These things unfortunately caused me to develop a lot of the behaviours I portray today within BPD. HOWEVER, the worst part is, I was too scared to speak up about what happened to me until I was like 21 years old. These things happened to me as a kid. So clearly, that’s an insanely long time. This also happens within women too, but I feel society is more prone to mocking men rather than applaud them for the behaviours of speaking up about those type of experiences or even mentioning something about how they feel mentally. That needs to stop. Fellas we gotta look after and out for each other and ourselves. And it starts with raising funding and awareness to those in need.
