This year marks 20 years of Movember and 20 years of men’s health impact. To celebrate, we paid homage to the city where it all began – Melbourne – with an iconic mural shave-down, right in the heart of Richmond. The event launched the 2023 hairy season on Mo 1.

Essendon Football player Sam Draper and Media Personality Konrad Bień-Stephen, both long-time Mo Bros, shaved off their follicles for a good cause, along with Movember spokespeople Kieran Ryan and Jake Lambert.

For AFL star, Sam Draper, it was tough to part ways with his iconic mo, “It's my signature look and it always feels really strange without it to be honest,” the 25-year old said.

" But that's kind of the point - to step outside your comfort zone and use that awkward moustache-growing starter for men's health. "

- Sam Draper

The shave down took place in front of the new Movember mural, designed and painted by artist, Tom Gerrard. Long-time Mo Bro Tom supports men’s health causes through his art, that is inspired by the stoic men he would sketch while travelling through South America and Spain.

Movember has achieved so much in the last two decades, but the sad reality is that too many men are living with poor health or dying too young. There are plenty of ways to get involved, have fun, and do good for men’s health this Movember.
