[mo]re than a run: Connecting the running community for a common cause

Movember
3 minutes read time

On 26th November 2022, thousands of runners across Australia and New Zealand united as a community to spark conversations around men’s health and take place in [mo]re than a run, powered by lululemon.

As the sun rose, the sound of crunching gravel echoed. The smell of sweat pierced the air. Across Australia and New Zealand, mates, friends and families banded together to break down barriers, start conversations and save lives - this was [mo]re than a run 2022. Organised as decentralised run events taking place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch - the idea being that you could take part in the initiative wherever you are.

The real connection came from the collaboration between run clubs and runners participating internationally. It was about the CAUSE and not the COURSE. Led by leaders from different locally created run clubs, the main hub was in Sydney, with a huge finish line event that was powered by lululemon. With over 200 run clubs, 3000+ runners and the goal for 2022 to raise AUD $1 million for Movember, the event was a truly great day out.

Running is a powerful vehicle to create a positive impact. Through a shared passion for running, comes the ability to unlock the power of community and cultivate social benefit. [mo]re than a run, powered by lululemon is an opportunity for runners from all over Australia and New Zealand to run together and make a meaningful impact on men’s health, mental health and suicide prevention. Thousands of runners raised funds for Movember by choosing to challenge themselves in a 10km, 30km, or 60km distance – each symbolising a significant statistic within men’s health.

Australia

The Movember 10km for the one in ten men around the world living with an anxiety disorder.

The Movember 30km for the 30 per cent rise in the number of Australian men dying by suicide over the last decade.

The Movember 60km for the 60 men that we lose to suicide each hour, every hour around the world.

New Zealand

The Movember 30km for the more than 30 per cent of New Zealanders who have personally experienced mental distress.
